Right now it shows there are 1980 messages in this group.
I uninstalled this group, then reinstalled and told it to load 2500
messages. Only the 1980 shows. Yet it showed there were. don't
remember the number, but many 10's of thousands of messages on the server.
If I want to access an older message, say 1, 2, 3, or 4 weeks ago, how
would I do it? Would they show "content". I have opened posts with
totally blank pages on this site.
Thanks

This news group is available on Google:
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&group=microsoft.
public.windowsxp.general
(If the above link is separated onto two lines, copy and paste both parts of
the address to the address bar of Internet Explorer) and then press your
keyboard's ENTER key. Once in the group you can opt to search with key
words and phrases (be sure to enclose phrases in quotes to limit false hits.
If you wanted to repair your recycle bin, you'd type "repair recycle bin"
otherwise you'd get false hits showing any post with the word REPAIR. Then
click the option to search only in microsoft.public.windowsxp.general
Google archives years of news group messages, and is a very good resource
for quickly finding info and fixes. Chances are, if you have a problem, the
fix has already been posted. Google searching this group for a fix is
usually faster than posting a new message.

Thanks to all.
Using Mozilla 1.6, I find it better than OE for me. Works just fine on
the MS newsgroups, other than the question on my original post on this
thread.
