View Full Version : Blue Screen on boot

I am currently having trouble botting Windows XP Home =0A=
Edition. The computer promptly shows a Blue Screen, =0A=
claiming that I have an "unmountable boot =0A=
volume" (0x000000ed). =0A=
=0A=
I have tried using Recovery Console, as suggested by the =0A=
Microsoft KB. However, Recovery Console is utterly useless =0A=
because it comes up with a blue screen (ntfs.sys). =0A=
=0A=
I had a linux bootdisk near me, so I booted with it and =0A=
was able to gain access to the ntfs partition. However, I =0A=
was only able to gain read-only access, which is useless =0A=
for trying to fix this problem. =0A=
=0A=
Any advice that you may have would be most welcome. =0A=
=0A=
Thanks

Hi, why don´t you check your hard disk?. I bet that´s it!. set your hard disk: "slave" in another computer, then chkdsk /r.

Greetings!

That might work, if I had a second computer available. =0A=
However I don't, so any other suggestions? =0A=

First of all, why don?t you try chkdsk to see if there is a problem
with the drive itself. The other possibility is going to the BIOS
settings, see if you are mounting from the correct drive.

Also a quick search on google revealed that your are not the first
person to have the ?blue screen of death? in Windows XP.

Hope this helps,
