View Full Version : IEXPLORE.EXE Application errors

For a few months now I have been getting a lot of IEXPLORE.EXE - Application
Errors, usually at least one per session. They typically occur when running
Internet Explorer (version 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633) under Windows XP
Pro, when multiple IE windows are open. The error message reads something
like:

The instruction at "0x1001b2d5" referenced memory at "0x000060000". The
memory could not be "written".

Clicking ok usually brings up the same error dialog but with different
letter and number combinations. What I'm left with is an inoperable system
without any desktop icons or task bar at the bottom. If I try to evoke the
task manager I get another similar error. The only thing I can do is switch
off my notebook.

I have run MemTest-86 (ver3.0) for several hours without a problem.

This is very frustrating so any ideas are welcome.

What about virus and spyware scans? Have you done those?

Hi Malke,

Certainly, Norton 2003 give a clean bill of health. Ad-aware 6, I believe,
detects spyware and I run it regularly also. Any other ideas?

Perhaps some of your internet explorer files are corrupted. Maybe
clean installation will fix the problem.

Hope this helps,

Is it possible to do a clean installation of explorer, without having to
reinstall windows xp?
