Cedric,
You're a little confused. The latest GeForce is the /F/X not, MX. An MX is a
cut down form of a Ti and is, basically, rubbish. If you really want the
best I urge you to forget nVidea and look at the new Radeons - they are
/far/ superior to anything nVidia has ever produced. I have a 9700Pro and,
whilst not the latest (the 256MB 9800Pro has just been released) is a
infinitely superior to the GF4 Ti 4800 and can give the GFFX a serious run
for its money.
Steer well clear of MX (not /F/X) cards. They are seriously budget - people
see the number and forget the rest. A GF3 (non-Ti) will seriously
out-perform a GF4 MX 220 or even 440.
Please be aware that to run a GFFX or Radeon 97 or 9800 (or any 9x card) you
will need a powerful PSU (that's Power Supply Unit) as they hook directly
into the PSU, unlike the older cards or the GF4 MXs, which don't need that
much power. I would recommend buying an Antec SmartPower supply (or ask to
have one fitted) of at least 400W (though the more the better).
I would also recommend having the system built by an independent, rather
than buying one 'off the peg' from one of the Big 6 (Compaq, HP, Dell, PB,
Sony or Gateway). This way you can have the PC tailored to your specific
requirements - the big companies generally aren't that flexible.
