Sorry for the attachment but in this case a pic is worth a thousand words.
I've tried different drivers and a friends video (AGP) card all with the
same symptom. Any ideas greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Duffer
Wiggle the monitor cord while looking at the monitor. Could be interference
of some sort, but it would have to be awfully strong.

How did you get this graphic? It does the same thing on my screen!
Perhaps the original jpg file is corrupted.

I got the graphic from a weather page =
http://www.wunderground.com/US/Region/US/HeatIndex.html and saved the =
corrupted version as the attachment you are viewing on your screen.
I,ve went to the site on another computer and the source graphic was not =
corrupted.
To S Heenan: I tried the remove and reseat the AGP card, unplugged the =
monitor cable and rescrewed the plug back in and wiggled the cable all =
to no avail but thanks for the suggestion.

Your map attachment is the default United States map that is installed in
Latin American versions of Windows XP. You will need to install a U.S.
domestic version of XP if you want to see the entire country, including all
regions annexed by illegal immigrants.
