We just set up the printer, and the pages will print but without data. My boss says Windows XP should accept the printer without installing the software for the printer. I say we need to download a driver inorder to get the printer to print. Please help
with this.

The only XP driver on the Brother site has a December 2001 time stamp. Version A.
(The site also says for Canada only)... XP doesn't seem to have this driver in its
printer file, might be why it isn't printing.

Rhonda,

I have two Brother printers a 1440 and a 5040. Each of them came with the
drivers on a CD. XP recognized the 5040 enough to print but neither were
fully functional until I ran the drivers. Did you get a quick setup sheet?
I followed that exactly and had no problems. I did have to download a new
driver for the 1440 because the original did not handle PostScript only
applications.
