Ever done this? I backed up my old harddrive to do a clean install. Saved
the file in pieces w/freeware "Zip-N-Go". Then made mirror images of only
the 1st 3 of 4 files before f-disking the harddrive. I only ask because of
the 6 YEARS of financial info I just wiped out! There's no apparent way to
open these 3 files w/out the 4th, but I'm willing to learn anything new.
Thanks in advance!

No idea how to get the backup back, but there are programs that will
un-fdisk the drive or restore data from it. Do a search for "data recovery"
and you'll find a whole lot of choices -- and prices.
