Right click on the My Computer icon then select properties. Click on the
Automatic Updates tab then uncheck the box that says 'Keep my computer up to
date...'.
Be warned though, that this will leave your computer open to virus attacks
etc. such as the recent MSBlaster worm.
Maybe you could try the Windows update site? www.windowsupdate.com
You might have more luck runing it from there.
Hope this helps.

Thank.
I might need your help. It happens since this June. Whenever I do
auto-update, mouse freezes. I tried to update those which were
auto-updated this morning. When installed, mouse starts to freeze after
using for a few minutes.
So I resorted to system restore to those of yesterday. That's how I am
using WinXP. Then, I see that my computer starts to autoupdate.
Could you please help me with this problem. Does this problem has to do
with Mouse? Thanks. Satoshi
