I'm trying to print from a remote computer to a printer on
an HP print server on a local tcp/ip port. Print sharing
is on, printer is shared, client for MS is on.

Thanks

It's not clear what you are trying to do and what exactly the problem is.

Are both computers running Windows XP? If not, which OS is on which
computer?

Are you connecting from one computer to another using Remote Desktop
Connection? In this case, is the printer a "Local Printer" on the local
workstation or on the remote computer that is the target of the Remote
Desktop Connection?

What make and model of printer is this?

What symptom do you get and does this happen trying to connect to the
printer or when actually printing?

It is perfectly useless to know the right answer to the wrong question.
