log on again no matter how many i open. only after
restarting the computer do i have to log on again. however
with xp i have to log in every time i open a new browser
window for that page causing me much grief. please make it
stop.

A logon session for a website is usually controlled by a cookie. Perhaps
you have cookies enabled in the 98 system and disabled in XP. Cookie
settings are managed from Internet Options/Privacy (via control panel or the
tool menu of IE) and can be globally or individually managed.
