In order to open Outlook Express or to get on the internet, I have to
shutdown ZAP. So far I have been unable to solve this problem Is this
usual with Zone Alarm? I ran it on Windows 98 without trouble.

No this is not normal at all with Zone Alarm Pro. Did you have Zone Alarm on
when you installed XP ? Some people have said it works best to delete it or
turn it off and reinstall after the new OS, but it should be working just
fine. Does it just stop you from opening OE or does it at least give you a
error message ?

Check your setting in ZA. Under the programs area make sure that you
do not have Generic Host Process for Win 32 Services, blocked.

It should have Internet Access, but does not need server access.

Under default XP settings, blocking this will keep you from accessing
the net.

Also check to make sure you dont have the ZAP internet lock on.
Check the permissions for both of the above programs also.
