Does anyone know of any fax software or programs that I could download that
will work with a dsl connection? Most seem dependent on a modem
connection. Thanks in advance...all help is appreciated.

Unlike most dial-up modems, a DSL modem is not capable
of connecting to fax machines, so you cannot send or receive faxes
directly.
In order to send and receives faxes, you'll need a conventional fax modem
with a live telephone line attached. You cannot use broadband unless you
use a web-base fax service, such as eFax:

Or consider purchasing a regular fax machine and connect it to your phone
line.

Nope - because it has nothing whatsoever to do with software - faxing
requires (direct access to) the phone network because it transmits the data
via a series of tone pulses which requires equipment capable of decoding
those pulses - and that means a traditional modem. Think about it - you
don't dial a number to connect to DSL, do you? Therefore, how can a DSL
'modem' connect to a fax machine - or another fax modem?

Have the same problem. The modem I use to use before I change to dsl
conection to internet ,is still in my computer. Can't I just plug the
cable to my phone line and send the fax? Something is wrong , don't
get the typical fax noise when I send the message. I use the fax
control panel that comes with XP pro. It should work ...
