Display screen displays sideways

I have a laptop and somehow my display screen somehow is
not being displayed sideways (vertical). Also my control
over the mouse is now running backwards (i.e. to move
upwards i now need to move the mouse sideways to the
right). Has anyone else experienced a problem like this.

You need to tell us what brand of video card or adapter you have.
If you happen to have a NVIDIA card or adapter, right-click on
your desktop and select:

Properties > Settings > Advanced > GeForce (tab) > NVRotate
and change the setting to "Landscape (0 degree rotation)".
