Hi,

I just recently installed windows xp after building my pc, but I seem to
have a problem with detecting my cd writer drive every time I boot up. I
have to go through add hardware to enable me to use the cdr drive liteon
48125S. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I get the following
error messages in the log29 January 2004 Service Control Manager Timeout
(30000 milliseconds) waiting for a transaction response from the
ShellHWDetection service.
29 January 2004 Service Control Manager Timeout (30000 milliseconds)
waiting for a transaction response from the AudioSrv service.
29 January 2004 NetBT Initialization failed because the driver device
could not be created.
29 January 2004 i8042prt The operation on the PS/2 keyboard device
timed out (time out is configurable via the registry).

Many Thanks

fuzzy

Where do you have your LiteOn installed? Did you try updating the
firmware. Check here

Faulty cd rewriter or bad motherboard, or bad bios on motherboard.
I'd suspect bad or incompatible (bios) motherboard, first. though I've seen
some really **** cd drives. Never had a bad LiteOn one though!

thanks for your reply, i've update the firmware, still get the same problem,
could it have been something I did when installing the m/b? I did have
another cd drive connected before i changed it to the cdr drive, so it maybe
a faulty liteon drive. I'll have to see.

Make sure that it is getting correctly identified by the BIOS ((that the
item is set to Auto, and the BIOS info comes up naming it) and that the
BIOS settings - maybe in a Boot section, maybe in Peripherals - is set
to use 'Plug and Play OS', so that this knowledge gets passed on to
Windows
