Repartition your hard drive and format with Windows 98.
You will lose all data you do not back up elsewhere.

Occasionally with great difficulty. There are occasions where you need to
collect your hard disk manufacturers "zero fill" utility, (for your specific
make and model of hard disk), and run it to clear a damaged NTFS format from
your hd. If your XP was sat on FAT32 you won't have to do that, just boot
from your W98 startup floppy, run fdisk.exe, delete logical drives, if any,
then delete extended partition, then delete primary partition ...delete all
partitions and reboot.
Though, why on earth would you want to go back to W98 ?

Greetings --
If you performed an upgrade from Win98/Me, elected to backup the
old system files, and didn't convert the partition to NTFS, then all
you need do is boot into Safe Mode and Start > Control Panel >
Add/Remove Programs. All of these conditions _must_ be met for the
uninstall option to be available.
