Please tell me the difference between Wordpad and Notepad

Open XP's "Help and Support" and type: NOTEPAD , and hit enter.
Do the same with WORDPAD.

Most obvious difference is that Notepad handles plain text only. Wordpad is
capable of supporting formatted text (bold, underlined, italicized, colors,
etc).

Ron is right. Briefly, Wordpad is a bare-bones word processor while Notepad
is a utility used for computer in-house maintenance. Logs, scripts, and
other programming items often are found in Notepad format (the spiral
notebook icon).
