View Full Version : Outlook Express Default

I have a new Gateway computer and when I want to send a
link from a web site a MSN Sign Up Wizard window
appears. I contacted Gateway and they told me to:
1. Open Browser
2. Click on Tools and Internet Options
3. Select Outlook Express and Click Ok\
I did this and Outlook Express appears here, but when I
go to send a link to a site, I am still getting the same
MSN Sign Up Wizard window.
So the next option they suggested was:
l. Open Outlook Express
2. Click on Tools
3. Open General Folder
In the Default Messaging Programs area, click "Make
Default for news or Email.
This is not a link for me, I am unable to click on it. I
right clicked on it and it told me that it was for but it
is in "faded" letters and not dark so it will not work
for me.
Coming on this board was the third option to get help.
So, help!!
Thanks, Jean
Thanks

Kelly, are you still getting that odd OE polling behavior with all new posts
shown beginning at 3:00 PM no matter what? Try totally disabling...
OE Tools>Options>Read>Get XX messages at a time
....if checked. You may need to use Catch Up afterwards. [I prefer ketchup
myself <eg>]
Q: Do you use Tools>Synchronize Newsgroup?

Hi PABear,
My question was to a private email you wrote and your response here was to a
private email sent to another list. What is going on here? :o)
As per the issue: I haven't finished testing yet.

Now you've /really/ got me confused (not that it's not hard to do).
What's to test? Turn it off and don't use Synchronize Newsgroup. You won't
miss nothin', honeychile, I promise!

Thanks, PA Bear, I followed the link, http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306098, Register Outlook Express as the Default E-mail Program. Fixed the problem in a jiffy.
