I need help on a couple of things:

How can I stop particular programs that I am not wanting
to use at start up from automatically loading. There are
so many of them, it takes forever for the cold boot to
finish.

I have some progams that I am currently using showing an
icon in the sys tray. When I finish using the program, I
right-click on the icon, and have the choice to "exit",
but I have noticed through the task bar list that they
are still running in the background, using up valuable
RAM, and pushing the CPU to 100% most of the time.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Amber

Click on Start, then click on Run. Type msconfig and click OK. If you then
click on Startup, you will see all the programs you're looking for.
