when i go to close out
iget a window come up that says

end program
hpcmpmgr.exe
and it closes this program
and shuts down however i dont know of any program running

That will be some 'manager' set up by installing an HP device (or maybe
this is an HP computer). It is probably to put a controls icon in the
task bar which you probably don't use. Start - Run, run MSConfig.exe
and look on the Startup page for it. UNcheck, exit and see if things
are OK once rebooted. If you don't notice anything missing, leave it
unchecked (and in the Troubleshooting message at startup, check 'Do not
show again' and Exit)
