installed xp no sound

after i installed windows xp to my pc, there was no
longer any sound. i have checked every possible place to
find out what the problem was and how to fix it and i
cant seem to find an answer. a friend of mine said i
needed a patch but i dont know how to find the correct
one to download.......help!

You can try: Start, Settings, Control Panel, Sounds and Audio, Sounds, make
sure that the Sound Scheme is set to Windows Default. I hope that helps.
