I've been having problems with my pc, and can't seem to
pinpoint the problem. all v-scans come back negative, but
all techs i've chatted with say it sounds like a virus.
I'm a little dumb when it comes to modern technology so
I'm not sure if they are just confused and impatient with
my lack of knowledge or if maybe I've got a new thing.
ANYWAY...one of the things I've noticed is every time I
shut down I get a window stating "ENDING PROGRAM-XPRT
MESSAGE WINDOW" What is this program? I just need a
little assurance from someone because nobody has been
able to explain this to me yet. Thanks ever so much for
any help you guys may be able to provide.

I do not think that this is part of a standard Windows XP
installation. Check your startup settings. An automatic application
start can be defined here:
- the WIN.INI, section [windows], entries "run=" and "load="
- the Registry keys
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\RunServices
- the folders
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\ALL USERS\START MENU\PROGRAMS\STARTUP
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\{username}\START MENU\PROGRAMS\STARTUP

I'm getting the same thing. I have no more clue than you as to WHY
it's happening, but hopefully somebody else will be able to explain it.

Try to identify a prog with 'xprt'. Have either of you gone to xprt.com?

Interesting suggestion. I can't find an 'xprt.com' on the Internet.
However, I did do a system-wide search for 'xprt'. I found a number
of files with that as part of the name. Four of them were parts of
applications I've installed recently (Borland Delphi and Visual Studio
..NET 2003), and the problem was there previously, so I'm ruling those out.

However, there are two DLL's that are a part of Netscape and AIM. I
think that might be the culprit. Perhaps the OP can tell us whether
he uses either/both of those programs.

Try removing the Netscape QuickLaunch from the taskbar.
