If you've ever had your head ripped off by Perdita X. Dream, Amethyst, or any other of her aliases, just forget about it. She is (as my sig says), a self-righteous, ruthless net-cop. Now, I'm not saying that her information is incorrect (and vise-versa), just that she tends to explode on people a little too much. So just like in the real world, just ignore people like them, (unless they are actually a cop :-P), make sure that you are not actually doing something that is horribly wrong, and keep on typing.

(applies to VL only) but not Windows.

It just goes to show, that having more than one opinion is important. It's great that the OP didn't only hear PXD's 'expert' (her words not mine) advice. And for someone with an English degree, you would think that she'd read a little more carefully.
No doubt however, I will receive replies from PXD, Bruce Chambers, and a few others, saying how I am a '****wit', 'moron', or 'lazy cretin, but read this for yourself, and make you're own decision.

PXD is really ignorant...I agree. But, like you said in your post - just ignore her. If I were you, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. No matter where you go, there will always be someone that needs an attitude readjustment...that's why there's the kill file!

No names mentioned , I've seen worse-lots worse. The kind you wouldn't let
your kids see. Above points are true but at least she didn't use
