Why are you even using their software? It is not needed. I have set up
numerous computers that function just fine, using only that which is
provided by the operating system.

First, System Resources, in the Windows 9X sense of the term,
don't exist in Windows XP, and there's no limitation to be
concerned with. There's nothing you need to free up.

Second, MSIE is not earthlink software, it's Windows software.
You don't need any special software from earthlink to use their
service.

Third, even in Windows 9X, you don't have to have 70% free System
Resources to use earthlink's software or any particular software.

What I am saying is that this is what their EXCUSE was for the inability to
connect to the Internet, and the spped with which I could move around on the
Net (not connection speed but load pages) which, by the way varies from 41.7
Kbs to a max of 47.0Kbs.

Some 'Techs' shouldn't be techs.

They gave you a bum steer, John. System Resources is not a concern in
XP. Suggest calling them back. I hope you get a better tech this time
around.
