Computer turns on when off and the a CD copy question...

MY computer (emachine T2825 120GB HD 512Mb Ram, Athlon CPU 2.3?) turns on automatically. The first time it did this I changed the power scheme but it didn't work, and have played with different p.schemes and settings, still turns on by itself, this has ha
ppened the day after I recieved this computer (new to XP). When I copy something to my CD-RW drive it's like a two stage process, 1st it goes on the hard drive or memory? and then I have to "write these files/folders to the CD" in the CD window. It will
not let me drag (e.g., Floppy icon) a icon in my computer to copy to the CD drive. Is this two step process a normal thing?

Yes. What you are seeing is the very basic CD writing capability provided
with WinXP. If you want to do drag and drop you need to buy packet writing
S/W (typically part of Roxio's "EasyCD/DVD Creator" or Ahead's "Nero Burning
ROM" package). Frequently one of these programs is supplied free when you
buy ac CD writer so check to see if you were given a copy with your PC or
ask your supplier perhaps.

Some system boards support "Wake..." settings: wake on LAN, wake on ring,
wake on RTC and so on. These are not Windows settings. If you wanted to
check and/or change these you would need to enter your system BIOS menus.
How to do that varies on one system to the next. Check the system manual
for directions.

If there are no "wake" settings, it's possible that the quality of power
supplied to the system may be erratic - tripping the on/off switch. Or the
power switch itself could be faulty.
