I want to transfer my Internet Explorer Favorites from my Windows 98 machine
to my Windows XP machine. I am unsure where to export the Favorites to.
If I choose Start > My Computer > Local Disk (C) > Documents and Settings, I
then get a choice of six folders, each of which contains a Favorites folder.
The six folders are:
Administrator
All Users
All Users.Windows
anonymous [that's the name I entered when I first turned the
computer on and it asked me my name]
Owner
Owner.YOUR-[a seriel number]
I am not sure what each of these different folders represents, but more
importantly I am not sure where to export the favorites folder to.
Can anyone advise me ?

Either use the File and Settings transfer wizard or simply use the
export/import function in Internet Explorer itself.
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/TechNet/prodtechnol/winxppro/deploy/mgrtfset.asp
or
(second choice)
Open Internet Explorer on the machine with the Favorites you want to
tranfer.. Select File -> Import and Export and follow the steps.. Save to a
floppy disk or shared network drive or burn to a CD-RW and import on the
other machine in the same way.

I guess I worded my question poorly.
To rephrase it, which of the six folders in the XP machine should I put the
Favorites into ?

If you chose ALL USERS, they will be available to all who log in.
If you put it under your own Account - YOUR NAME then they should be available
for you alone.
What I basically did, was copy all my favourites and placed them under my user
name in Documents and Settings, Favourites. Worked for me.
Hope that helps or makes sense.

Thanks.
I guess I'll put them into ALL USERS since I am the only one who uses this
machine.
