My customer lost the ability to have autocomplete for ALL forms on web
pages. He is using Windows 98SE for the moment and I intend to
upgrade him to XP. For an example: He would go to CNN.COM
and look for the stock quotes box, he would click it
and IE would remember his last 4-5 postings. I go to another computer
and the box has no pull down whatsoever. He says IE used to remember
his name and email addresses in pull downs also. Was this a function
of his old IE 5.5 before I updated his system to IE 6 SP1 and all the
patches? I used SpyBot and AdAware to remove lots of spyware too,
could I have deleted a program that does this? Autocomplete works
fine in his WWW address box and in his Outlook Express email
addresses. Thanks!

Hi there,
Your Password Is Not Retained in Windows XP:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q264672
** This fix also applies to Internet Explorer, other
programs that store passwords in the Protected Storage
System Provider sub-branch of the Registry. It also
corrects some issues with Internet Explorer and
AutoComplete.
AutoComplete Does Not Save Username and Password:

My client can save names and passwords fine. Please re-read the
problem below. He used to be able to have autofill on every box on
the WWW page. IE would remember his previous note and would have
the selection when he returned to the www page next day, etc. If he
had different entrees on different days, there would appear a pulldown
menu. I do not see these menus on any other systems. Was this a
feature of IE 5.5 or was eliminated by removing spyware?
This is NOT a user name and password issue!

Hi,
In IE, go to Tools/Internet Options/Content/Auto-Complete.
