weird question here. I previously had office 2000 on my
computer with ME. I upgraded to XP, but not office XP.
Every time I open excel or word, or any other office
program. a windows installer window pops up looking for
something to install. i usually click cancel and the
program will open fine. is there any way to stop this.
thanks

It is not unusual to have to reinstall Office 2000 again after you upgrade.
You should ensure you are logged on to an account that has administrator
privileges and then reinstall Office again.

it should be asking you for the disk used to install office, this is normal.
this is due to the differences between the way win9x and winxp manage users
and profiles. in win9x default installations, everyone uses the same
settings (for lack of a better explanation), but in xp, each user has a
different profile that contains custom settings. once you insert the office
disk and let the installer run, everything should be ok.
