After a (for the umpteenth time) repair
from "c:\windows\system32\config\system is missing or
corrupt" I tried to do a system restore, but I got a
window saying "System Restore is not able to protect your
computer. Please restart your computer and then run
system restore again",
Doe anyone know how I can restore System Restore ?
By the way, rebooing does not make any difference, the
message keeps coming up.

TIA,
Frankie.

I believe you restore SR by turning it off, then turning it on again.
Control panel \ system\ system restore tab
Apply\okay as necessary.
Then create a new restore point.

You should have a second backup in any event. Frequently recommended
here is erunt.zip, a 575K freeware utility. It saved me once when
Restore failed.
