Hi,

We have Windows XP with a Lucent itnernal modem that we have installed as a fax machine. I can send and receive faxs manually without difficulty, we can also receive fax's automatically if a fax is being sent to us. The problem is that we have the modem co
nnected to a Telstra Duet line, this means that when a fax is being sent to us the ring is heard as 3 quick tones, when a phone is being used to ring us it is a quick 2 tone. The problem is the modem does not seem to be able to differentiate between these
two types of calls, so no matter whether a fax or a phone is dialling the fax answers the call.

Can anyone out there help me with setting the modem to differentiate between these two devices?

Thanks

Only Telstra can do this - Windows XP doesn't support Distinctive Ring. You
will need to set up identicall or similar with them.
