I am just new to a PC and I am confused. I have several
locations where my files show up and I can't find an
answer to why.
One shows as "Colin Spriestersbach's Documents", another
shows as "My documents" another is under Documents and
Settings as Colin Spriestersbach and within that there is
yet another as "My Documents"

Is Windows XP storing these in 4 places? Did I goof
transfering files over from my old computer and placed
them in wrong location?

What ones are just shortcuts? What ones can be safely
trashed without losing what I really want to keep.

This has got me really confued. HELP!!!!!! Someone
please send me an answer. I will appreciate your assist
on this.

Thanks much
Colin

There are no duplicates. These are multiple methods to reach the same
folder. One may be more convenient at a particular time than another.

Using TweakUI you can remove "Colin Spriestersbach's Documents" from the My
Computer window. The setting can be found under the "My Computer" section
of this program. Here's an URL to where you can download TweakUI for XP
(one of the Power Toys collection):
