Hi,
I have an XP box. XP does not provide drivers for HP
Laserjet 3100 printers. I had to purchase a CD from HP to
get connectivity.
However, this driver has a problem - it locks up the
Machine if it has been idle for some time - the display
goes blank or has grey lines on it. This forces a restart.
I have not added any other software to my box. The box
worked good until I added the driver. I also tried Win NT
4.0 compatibility mode, within the Print properties, to no
avail.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on?
Thanks

It is possible your PC is configured to enter stand-by or some other power
saving mode. The print driver does not support this and according to HP you
should disable these features. This is a known issue and is documented on
the HP web site for this particular printer.
