finding programs

I decided to clean up my computer today and went into the
Add/Remove via my control panel.

I wrote down all the programs I was unsure of,to make
sure I knew what they were before i removed them.

But I can not find them I have gone into "My programs"
and looked under all the sub headings and can not find
them.

Done the C drive . Program files and still do not seem to
be able to find them.

Where should I be looking ?

I'm not clear on the nature of the problem. Add\Remove only lists
programs installed into the Program Files area.

Perhaps you might give an example?
