Probably covered b4 but here is my question......
Can I install XP Pro over Home without losing my data (programs,
e-mail..etc.)

Yes but you will have to reapply SP1a (unless your version of XP Pro has it
integrated) and you will need to reapply Critical Updates. Be careful to
enable your firewall immediately upon upgrading so as not to invite Blaster
or Welchia etc. the apply the update patches. You will lose your System
Restore Points but the rest of your data should be fine. As mentioned it is
always prudent to backup before you upgrade.

Greetings --
WinXP is designed to install and upgrade the existing operating
system while simultaneously preserving your applications and data, and
translating as many personalized settings as possible. The process is
designed to be, and normally is, quite painless. That said, things
can go wrong, in a small number of cases. If your data is at all
important to you, back it up before proceeding.
The upgrade from WinXP Home to WinXP Pro, in particular, should go
smoothly, as both operating systems use the same kernel.
