There are certain programs that are running in the startup folder. They
used to display in the notification area of the taskbar, for some reason
they now don't.
How can I get them to display agan?

01. Right Click on TaskBar
02. Click on Properties
03. In taskbar tab, click on Customize button
04. Here; you can select which icon should be shown and when.

sorry for the mis-communication.
The area I refer to is the lower right pane of the taskbar at the bottom of
the desktop.

Hi, Bill.
Most of this still call this area the System Tray (or SysTray), but
officially it is now the Notification Area.
Three ways to change what you see here:
1. Don't let the programs that put icons there run.
2. Let them run, but use their own settings for whether to put their icons
there.
3. Use WinXP settings to govern the behavior of the icons.
Which way you use depends mostly on which program is involved.
For the 3rd way, you can right-click on the clock and choose Customize
Notifications... For most icons, you can choose Always show, Always hide,
or Hide when inactive.
You'll probably have to use more than one of these ways to get things
arranged the way you want them. If you mention specific programs, we may be
able to offer specific guidance.
