We purchased a Sony laptop that came with XP Home Edition
installed, but no OS install CD's. It it possible to get
the media without having to buy the OS again?

The System Recovery information is probably on a hidden partition on
your hard drive. Check your documentation for information about this.
It may also explain how to create a CD or CDs from the information.
Good luck

You can purchase the recovery discs from Sony for about $30 including
shipping. However. you only get the discs not the CD key. I bought a used
Sony laptop and it had the CD key stick on the bottom like it is supposed to
be.
