Printer icons disappeared

I have a Sony Vaio that when accessing the Printers and
Faxes folder there are no icons. Cannot access the Add
printer wizard and cannot check server properties.
But yet I can print to the printers that were previously
installed.

I have seen some posts with this problem, but no fixes
that have worked.

Thanks, but that didn't help.

It scanned the WinXP Home CD for awhile and then completed. I rebooted and
check for printers in the Printer Control Panel and still nothing there.
There doesn't seem to be any information in the Event Viewr either.

Any other ideas.
