Have Dell Dimension 8200 and just tried to play a DVD & when I put it in, I
got question (1) Play DVD using Windows Media Player, (2) Play DVD Video
using Real One Player.

If I say Windows I get msg saying it cannot because a compatible DVD decoder
is not installed on my computer & if I say Real One I get msg saying could
not play DVD. DVD software is not installed properly. Please reinstall the
DVD software etc....

Not sure I want to get involved with Windows/Real One etc. and looking for
guidance in that area. Not adverse to purchasing a software package that
when installed will play my DVD's as well as let me copy them.

Any advice will be appreciated.

I called Dell & believe it or not, was on hold about 5 minutes and went
through problem with tech. Turns out I had a CD shipped with PC that said
"Power DVD" and I never ran it. I had awhile ago had to reinstall XP and
guess this CD was part of Dell's original installation. Any way, put the DVD
in as tech hung around and I can now play DVD's.

Now the biggie. My Samsung SM-308B is a CD burner but doesn't do DVD's.
Would like to hear from anyone with similar pc who has a CD burner like I do
but bought a DVD burner and now copies DVD's. Being a novice I prefer the
external route with I guess a hook up with my USB port.
TIA
Dannie
PS - Dell got an A++ for their help!!!
