Hello,

Todays problem,

I cannot get Fast User Switching to work on a single pc with 3 users.

In the "user accounts" settings, I enable "Fast User Switching" by clicking
on the checkbox, however, the checkbox unchecks itself.

Even after the checkbox disables itself, I checked the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
Dword = 1

This shows Fast User Switching is enabled!

Also, when I log off, the menu box appears, which gives me the option of
"logging off" or "fast user switching". When I click on "fast user
switching", nothing happens.

Any suggestions?

What else is going on? No logon errors: msgina, netware,
pcanywhere......if not:

Go to Start/Run and type in: services.msc
Scroll down to Terminal Services and make sure it is Started.

That is not today's problem. Today's problem is how to insert a raw,
shelled egg up your arse without breaking the yolk. Come back next month.

A possibility. Check the Services module [Start | All Programs |
Administrative Tools | Services], right click on the Fast User Switching
service and see if it is set to Automatic.

Thank You to JD and Kelly,

Fast user switching now works. I went to the services menu and found both
fast user switching and terminal services were disabled. I'm not sure why
they were disabled because I didn't do it, but I reset them both to
automatic.

Only problem now is that my Virus checker(Anti-Vir) and firewall (Kerio)
will not work with fast user switching. The previous user must be logged off
completely for these programs to work with the new user or the applications
must be stopped manually.

Special thanks to Kadaitcha Man, a Linux user who reads the XP newsgroups,
thanks for your interest...

Is Terminal Services running in your service section?
