View Full Version : Windows XP locking up when right clicking a file

This happens no matter what file I choose to right click
to get the properties. This just started in the last 2
weeks. I tried to restore, but it only shows 3 days
worth. I manually took a snapshot about 2 months ago but
it does not show up.
If I right click on a file all I get is the hour glass
and the machine is froze. A CTRL-ALT-DEL shows no
processes running away and no stray applications running.
Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated

Hi Darrin,
This is common behavior if you have Xupiter installed and/or Hotbar. Even
worse for Hotbar. As it adds two extensions under: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT that
needs to be removed to stop the crashing.
If you would rather remove Hotbar use the edit on line 195:

Most times, the crashes are from right clicking and choosing New.
If this is your case, post back and I will list the two .dll's that need to
be removed.
If the above is not the case, but Xupiter applies:
Xupiter Toolbar Uninstaller (Line 167)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
If neither apply, run the two edits on line 157:

Good luck and post back with your findings.
