Computer stopped going into standby or hibernate this
morning. It has been working fine. Have it set up in
power management. Also doesn't work if I try mannually.
The screen just blinks and then I'm back at the welcom
screen. Any suggestions

One idea is that a program is not shutting down. Any clue in event viewer?
Does it power off normally?

You could try system restore - start menu \ programs \ accessories \
system tools \ system restore. Select a point before this problem
began.

It's also possible that you need to reinstall your video drivers.
