View Full Version : Cannot access folder after XP reload

I had a video driver problem and couldn't get XP home to repair it properly.
I had to load a new copy of windows over the old. When I did this, I lost
access to my old personal folder, "My Documents". I have another
administrator account on the computer and I know the password to the old
one, but it never asks me for it, it just says that I don't permission to
view it. If I try to recreate that profile on my computer it makes another
with that name dot windows. Does anyone know how I can get back into my
folder? I would really appreciate it. It has letters and updates and stuff
that I really need.
Thanks in advance,
Dan

Hi Daniel,

Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/View/Unmark "Use Simple File Sharing".
Right click the folder/file in question/Properties/Security/
Advanced/Owner/Set Permissions.
