aspi layer

I have My DVD program in my
dell computer and when I try to open it it says there ia
an application error 17235 unable to find an aspi
manager. When I contact Sonic, they say that Windows 2000
and XP, the later is what I have, doesn not have an aspi
layer and they recommend downloading an update. What I am
wondering is if that will cause a problem with XP.
