NTFS and FAT coexisting?

I am finally getting a 2.4gig PC and want to format the hard drive using
NTFS. I am installing my old hard drive as a second drive and it is already
formatted FAT and has a lot of my data loaded on it from the old pc. The new
OS will be XP pro. Does anyone know if this will be a problem? Will I be
able to move files between the two drives? Is there anything I need to do
special? Thanks for the help.

It will not be a problem and you will be able to see and move data between
the drives.
You need do nothing special

Nope, that'll work fine... XP can read all prior DOS/Windows filesystems
natively...

You should have no problems when you install the old hard drive into your
new machine. A couple of cautions however.

1. If the old drive is compressed, you must uncompress it prior to
installing it into the new machine since XP does not have Drivespace
compression capability.

2. Make sure the jumper on the old drive is set to Slave and the drive in
the new machine is set to Master (some manufacturer's drives need a jumper
change if it is being changed from a Master/Single drive to a Master/Dual
drive system) if they are being placed on the same IDE cable (I don't
recommend placing the old drive on the same cable as a CD drive).

3. If the drive is not recognized by XP's Windows's Explorer or My
Computer you may need to rescan the drive in Computer Management. To do
this, click Start, Settings, Control Panel. Double click on Administrative
Tools then Computer Management. Single Click on Disk Management. Click on
Action Menu and Click on Rescan Disks. You shoud see the drive appear in
the list. If there is no drive letter assigned, right click on the drive
and see what options are available. Do not delete the partition as this
will dump all data on the drive. If Import Foreign Disks shows click on it
for the wizard.
