I feel like an idiot asking this, but, here goes. I can't find a setting for my system standby. I went to the help area but it sent me to "power options" "system" etc. It went to power options ok but there is no system or system standby in the power option
s area, only hibernate options. I want to keep my computer from constantly going to the logon screen. I'm sure this is an easy fix, I just can't figure it out.

Since you have a Hibernate page in Power Options, you have Standby options
too. Look on the Power Schemes page and pick out some settings you like for
the various bits of hardware: monitor, hard drives, and right under that an
amount of time before System Standby kicks in.

If you do not want the welcome screen/password prompts to appear when
coming out of standby, uncheck the box: Prompt for password on resume. This
settings i on the "Advanced" page of Power Options.

Since the log on prompts seem to bother you, you'll probably want to turn
this next thing off in Screensavers too: Display Properties> Screensavers.
Uncheck box next to "On resume, password protect."

When/if you want to invoke standby manually, click on Start> Turn off
Computer. If the next screen shows Hibernate, Shutdown, Restart. Press
Shift to turn Hibernate button into Standby. This usually goes the other
way around, pressing Shift to show Hibernate on the Standby button but the
point is that pressing Shift will toggle the choices on that button.
