Can't make working desktop shortcuts to CDR and DVDR

Hi,
In previous Windows versions I've always made desktop shortcuts to my CDR
and DVDR drives without encountering any problems.
Now, when I try to get the same shortcuts functioning on the WinXP desktop
I get error messages saying "Missing Shortcut" and suggestions that I
browse for the intended location.
Can anyone please tell me how to make this work in WinXP?
