View Full Version : Deleting items saved in search bar -Yahoo, Google

When I begin typing a subject into the search bar (not
the address bar)there is a list of all the words I have
used in searching.
I cannot find any easy way to delete these. I feel it is
another way that someone else using my computer could
have some idea of my search interests.
I do know that Internet Options, clear history etc. will
get rid of saved sites but it doesn't solve my stated
request.

Hi Jim,
Clear IE History, Clear the TIF, Clear the RunMRU, Typed URL's and Clear
List (depending on which Start Menu you are using): Right click the Start
button/Properties/Customize/Advanced/Recent Documents/Clear List.

you suggested clear the Run MRU....that's where I don't=20
know what you are referring to.
I do appreciate the help you are giving me!!

Hi Jim,
You are welcome. For Google history, place your cursor in the Search box
then press the down arrow key and then hit delete. Clearing Recent
Documents/Clear List under Customize/Advanced clears the run history,
however, I have listed the key for you.
Clear Run History: Start/Run/Regedit
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\
Explorer\RunMRU
Typed URL's: Start/Run/Regedit: Open your registry and find the key below
and delete any value you want to remove.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\
TypedURLs
Clear Recent File Lists - Includes the Run Menu and Search (Line 41)
