I installed Win XP Home Edition on a computer which has
since died and took the OS with it. Therefore I can't
get to the EULA for instructions. I want to install the
same Win XP on another computer. Do I need to do
anything, call anyone, before the new installation or do
I just do the regular activation after installation and
explain what is going on? Thanks. Dan

If it has been more than 120 days since you first installed it, then it will
install normally on the other computer. If it has been less than 120 days
you will have to do a phone activation. It is painless, just follow prompts
on screen.

Greetings --
Assuming a retail license (OEM licenses are not transferable),
simply remove WinXP from the computer it is currently on, and install
it onto the new one. If it's been more than 120 days since you last
activated that specific Product Key, you'll most likely be able to
activate via the Internet without problem. If it's been less, you
might have to make a 5 minute phone call.
Here are the facts pertaining to activation:

Presuming it was a retail copy, and not one of the OEM ones 'for supply
only with a new computer' and which are licensed solely to that, you
just install on the new one. When it comes to activation, you may find
it will go through on the net anyway - if more than 120 days since you
last did it certainly will. If not, you will have to phone a toll-free
number that will be given, to explain and swap one long number for
another to check back as you type it in
