If I open up IE 6 while I'm not online, it opens up and immediately
wants to connect to the Internet. I think it has something to do with my
Internect Connection Manager since it's not the typical box that pops up
either for IE 6 or OE 6. I can't find the setting to shut it off though. Any
thoughts?

Try Tools->Options on IE and select the Connections tab.

Click on the Never Dial a Connection radio button.

Set your home page to blank.
Whenever you open IE, it will never connect
until you want it to.

IE | Tools | Internet Options | General tab |
Use Blank button | Apply | OK
==================

Start | Settings | Control Panel | Internet Options |
Connections tab | Select Never dial a connection |
Apply | OK

your dial-up connection and then connect to the Internet.

instructions on your screen.]]

Dial whenever a network connection is not present
[[Specifies that when you need an Internet connection and a network
connection is not available, Internet
Explorer automatically attempts to connect using your default Dial-Up
Networking connection.
If no connections are set up, click the Add button, and follow the

Always dial my default connection

FOUND IT! In XP there's an autodial feature buried in Network Connections.
Open up Network Connections, choose the advanced tab, then dialing
preferences and up pops an autodial box. In mine, the connection from my
home was set up to autodial. Just uncheck the box next to the location in
use and it's back to normal.
In reply to those other suggestions, I had already been all through
those already so I knew it had to be somewhere else. Thanks anyways.
