Hi All,
What's the best way to use a D drive? My Sony laptop came with 20+ Gig
devoted to the D drive. I'm using Windows XP. I'd rather almost all of
that hard memory were in my C drive so that protected user files would also
be on the D drive?
Pointers?

How large is your C drive? I keep all the files I create in Word, Excel,
Adobe, and all others and all my pictures on my D drive. I put Windows and
all programs on the C drive.

I suppose that method would be OK. I tried using that on my earlier
computer but it slowed things down on document retrieval a little. But ...
is your D drive within the user's protected or private zone ? I use
electronic medical records and they should remain in a location on the
computer where if the computer were stolen or on line, access to patient's
medical records would be less vulnerable.

I missed answering your question. My C drive is 15 gig, my D drive is 22.

Do you have your indexing service running?
any help: http://www.blkviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm
I also set 1 gig aside for a swap file, and have it set so it doesn't grow
and shrink.

Thanks BV
I checked your website out. Great website!! It's also nice to see "real
people personality" there too.
I checked my Ctrol-Alt-Delete and cisvc.exe is running. I'd rather not
limit my swap file at this point as it appears I have 14 Gig on Drive D that
I'm really not using much.
