hi,
i am going to buy a sony laptop, which has a dvd-rewriter. the speed of the
writer is X2. i wanted to know how fast this really is? can sonome tell me
how long it would take to write/rewrite a dvdr/cd-r, etc???? also is it
really worth it? cos if i get a dvdrw, i dont get a floppy disc drive. i can
get one with a fast cd-rw, which has a flopy disc drive, for cheaper.

any help/advice?

And God forbid you should learn a little about what you're
trying to do. DVDs and CDs write at different rates
because they're fundamentally different types of disks. If
you want to know the difference, do a little reading
instead of whining like a little girl. I always wonder
where idiots like you get enough money to buy computers.

have you tried burning a DVD and timing it? That should give an you idea of
how long it takes.

Probably best to stay away from any type of new technology.
The amount of time it will take for your tiny mind to
absorb the requisite knowledge will probably more than
offset any gains offered by a new device. Of course, you
haven't bothered to tell anyone what it is you're trying
to burn, or what the CD burn rate is for the drive
you're talking about, or any other pertinent information
that might be used by someone with a functioning brain to
help you. And you want *me* to think before I type?
